Mike Rodgers named VYSA Competitive Girl's Coach of the Year.

Throughout Coach Rodgers many years serving our community, he was and continues to be an impact on many lives.
Coach Rodgers receives the Les Dorson Lee District Citizenship Award
At the December 8, 2009 44th Annual Lee District Banquet for the Lee District Association of Civic Organizations, Coach Rodgers was presented the Les Dorson Lee District Citizenship Award. Remarks made during the award presentation were:
Mike has been a dedicated contributor to the well being of Lee District for over 25 years, as leader and worker in social, academic, legislative, environmental and athletic programs. He has made major contributions to the behalf of youth and adult athletic programs, but soccer has been his greatest passion. Many players that he has coached have gone on to succeed in the college ranks. He was the Director of Coaching for the Lee Mount Vernon Soccer Club and worked with local girls soccer teams for 16 years.
Other areas of Leadership include years of participation with the Lee District Land Use Advisory Committee and with organizations such as Clean Fairfax. County Parkshave benefited from his work in support of the bond referenda. Combining recreation with his concern for conservation and safety, Mike frequently walks the trails in the Huntley Meadows wetlands and in other Parks.
He has served for years on the Wickford Wellfleet Citizens Association as a board member and President. He is a past officer of the Tartan Village Homeowners Association.
Mikes volunteer work with school and league sports, environmental activities and community associations has touched the lives of many Lee District residents.
