Referees
Here is the LMVSC hosted class of new Referees, August 16, 2008.
All LMVSC referees are United States Soccer Federation certified and are provided for all LMVSC games above D1 (Second grade and above) where possible. For the information of coaches and fans, copies of the FIFA Laws are available on line at the FIFA web site under Regulations and Directories. It should be remembered that referees are provided with significant additional information and guidance that is not contained in the handbooks available on line.
Pre-Season Referee Meeting for LMVSC Referees These meetings are to advise LMVSC referees of changes in FIFA Laws, changes in the in the operations and playing rules of the Lee-Mt. Vernon Soccer Club, and to meet with the Association assignor. Contact Lee Hingle at (703) 799-0236 for details or questions that you may have.

Recertification Class Schedule The recertification course sponsored by LMVSC will be held on Dec12 and 13th, 2009. The 2010 LMVSC recertification course will be conducted in two sessions. Each recertifying referee must have 5 hours of training during the past year. This two session course is designed to meet that requirement. The recertifying referee MUST attend the both sessions before taking the test. On-line pre-registration is required through the VYSA Referee web site. Click on the "On-Line Registration" button on the left side of the screen. The cost of recertification is $65. This can be paid on-line with a credit card or you can elect to bring a check made payable to "State Referee Program" to the first class.
NOTE: The Recertification Test has been changed significantly. It remains a "multiple choice/True or False" test, but the questions are more difficult than in the past. The number of questions has been increased to 75. Studying is a must. Advice to Referees 2009 - 2010 can be downloaded by clicking here (not working right now). The Recertification Course is being coordinated by Mike Larkin at 703-780-8028. If you cannot attend the LMVSC sponsored recertification courses, go to the VYSA Referee web site to find a clinic in the Northern Virginia area. Click on "Clinic Listing" on the left side of the page. Enter "North" for the Area and "Referee Re-certification (Grade 8)" for the clinic. Then hit the "Search" button. Keep in mind that this is a very busy time of the year and personal plans become more complicated. An initial certification course for NEW REFEREES was conducted in February 2010. The next LMVSC sponsored New Referee (Grade 8) course will be conducted in the August 2010. The course is composed of three sessions (see the table below), one of which is the certification examination which consists of a 100 question, multiple choice test. A grade of 75 is required for certification.
On-line pre-registration is required through the VYSA Referee web site starting about August 3, 2010. Click on the "On-Line Registration" button on the left side of the screen. The cost of certification is $65. This can be paid on-line with a credit card or you can elect to bring a check made payable to "State Referee Program" to the first class. Payment via credit card is strongly recommended.
The student should bring materials for taking notes to the class. Each student is provided a referee kit consisting of:

The Student Workbook can be downloaded by Clicking Here. The first 50 pages of the workbook should be printed and brought to class for taking notes. In preparation for the first class, the Laws of the Game should be downloaded from the red "FIFA Law Book" link above. The Laws listed for the first class must be read in advance.
