LMVSC FIRST Girl's Travel Team Coached by Tony Malave

The LMVSC Patriots, (7th Grade)  Girl’s Travel Basketball Team, had a very successful year by most standards,
says head coach Tony Malave. Making the playoffs in its 1st year in Travel basketball,
with a roster of only 8 girls (including one 5th grader and one 6th grader) and competing against teams
that have played together for years, was quite an accomplishment.
The Patriots took their lumps in the beginning of the season, starting the season 0 -4 , but then went 5 - 5
beating many good teams along the way and losing 3 of those 5 games by a total of 7 points!
Unfortunately, they lost their 1st round playoff game to a good Fort Hunt team 43 -32,
but the game was much closer than the final score. Each and every girl on this team stepped up in their
own way, over the course of the season to improve their game, and to grow alot in the face
of some tough competition.
Two Players, Sydney Lee and Isabella Malave, were both nominated for all-league honors for their outstanding play
during the season with Sydney Lee being selected to the "All- League" Team.  What a great accomplishment!
LMVSC is grateful to  Coach Malave for providing an opportunity for "girls" in the Lee Mount Vernon area to experience the game of Basketball at the next level.
Basketball for Girl is growing in Lee Mount Vernon. The Club’s goal is to gets girls interested in Basketball and to enhance our local High School’s Basketball programs.   For more information on how to get your daughter involved in Basketball, , please contact the LMVSC Executive Director, Lula Bauer .
